Originally part of a working farm, this unique property has been lovingly transformed over the years. Our story is one of passion, dedication, and a deep connection to the land. As we restored the old milk-shed and farmhouse, we sought to preserve the character and charm of the past while introducing modern comforts. Our History
Moig Lodge has deep roots in the rural traditions of Shanagolden. Originally part of a working farm, the lodge began as a humble milking parlour, central to the daily life of the farmstead. Over the years, the property saw generations of family tending to the land, with its rich agricultural history shaping the local community. As time passed, the desire to preserve this heritage grew, leading to a thoughtful restoration. Today, Moig Lodge stands as a tribute to its past, blending rustic charm with modern elegance.
Moig Lodge stands adjacent to Moig House, a Georgian country house built in the late 18th century. Moig and Shanagolden have a rich history dating back centuries. Shanagolden itself, just a few kilometers away, is known for its ancient heritage, including ruins of castles and medieval structures.
Our Family
The restoration of Moig Lodge was a labor of love for the Madigan family, who have called this residence their home for the past six years. Originally from Shanagolden and Kilcolman, Tony and Maretta set their eyes and hearts on the beautiful local property and made their dreams a reality when they purchased the property in 2018.
Deeply connected to the area’s history, they sought to preserve its essence while creating a warm, inviting space for guests. With a passion for heritage and craftsmanship, the family carefully restored the original structures, ensuring that every detail reflected both the character of the past and the comforts of today. Their dedication to Moig Lodge’s transformation reflects their pride in the land and its legacy.
Our Ethos
We endeavour to transform Moig Lodge into a unique and desirable holiday destination that has a dynamic appeal to discerning guests.
